Doing a Fair Job

While India's economy booms, companies flock to open back office operations to cut costs. The attrition rate remains high as most employed are youngsters fresh out of college. Job Fairs, like one above, have become a regular feature for companies and prospective employees to look for one another. This one is at Pragati Maidan near India Gate.

A University According to Nehru

"Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn moment we take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity..."
- Jawaharlal Nehru, August 14, 1947, Tryst with Destiny Speech

I am One of Them

I am one of them
I am the common man
Somewhere there I do hide
With a pinch of salt I take on the ride
There were enough hurdles
But I always put my best stride
The dust, the stones, the silt and the tar
All are pushed aside
I break all the barriers that may arise

Everyday I pass from here
And I have seen the river demise
Slowly, not suddenly it happened
There are many, but none of us realise

Yes, I am one of them.
I am the common man

Mr Hutch Puppy... this man was desperate to get publicity through his pet. He flaunted it to the children who were crazy to touch a dog they see in a mobile phone company's advert. When I asked him to pose, the puppy shyed away but Uncleji pulled him into his arms to pose for the camera...

Walking Pass-By

The Kanwarias of India...
A bit about Kanwarias: Kanwarias are the devotees of Lord Shiva. Every year in the month of "Shravana" (according to the Hindu calander) hundred of Kanwarias walk bare foot for miles carrying holy Ganga water in their "Kavads" (pots slung on bars and carried on the shoulder) from Har-ki-Pauri in the holy town of Haridwar to Shiva temples in their native towns and villages.
